Pride 2023

Offers for people with limited mobility

5. June 2023

Reading time: approx. 2 minutes

Regenbogen-Bus der Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe vor dem Neuen Rathaus

Once again this year, there will be demo vehicles to enable older people and people with mobility impairments to take part in the event in an uncomplicated, barrier-free manner.

We are particularly pleased that our partner, the Leipziger Gruppe – Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe to be precise – is making its rainbow bus available this year and joining our demonstration. This colourful bus has been on the road for some time now and is probably familiar to many Leipzig residents. The bus has 27 seats and 2 wheelchair spaces. As it is a normal bus, the ambient noise in the bus will be a little more muted.

A Leipzig University minibus, which can also be used to transport heavy wheelchairs, will also be there again. There are 6 seats available for wheelchair users. The wheelchairs will be kept safe during the demonstration and there will be assistants present to help you get on and off the bus. In addition, 2 heavy (electric) wheelchairs can be taken along.

With these offers, people who are less able to walk or are dependent on a wheelchair can cover the entire demonstration route and are right in the middle of it instead of just being there. As places on the two buses are unfortunately limited, we recommend that you reserve a place in advance. You can do this quickly and easily via the following link.

Of course, it is also possible to take a ride without pre-registration as long as there are still places available. Please arrive at the respective vehicle in good time before the start of the demo. Assistance will be available there to help you get on and off if necessary. We kindly ask you to show solidarity. We will announce the locations of the two vehicles at the start of the demo in good time on the Pride 2023 information page and via social media. It will not be possible to board or alight during the demo.

By the way: When determining the route of the demonstration this year, we paid particular attention to making it as accessible as possible and worked closely with our accessibility team to make participation in the demonstration as pleasant as possible for everyone. Further information on inclusion and accessibility at Leipzig Pride can be found in our overview under the following link.
