We are calling for the new drag contest "Icon of CSD Leipzig"!
Drag always has its finger on the pulse, is constantly changing and produces real icons that enrich the world with their glamour. That’s why CSD Leipzig wants to give its drag contest an update. The name is new, as is the format! Whether you dance, sing, do comedy or have completely different talents. Whether you’re a king, queen, quing or creature. You are invited! Do you live a marginalised life? Then you are doubly and triply invited! We want to show Drag as colourful as it really is.
You want to show yourself? The future of drag is in your hands! Apply now and become our Icon of CSD Leipzig 2023! Show us your art in a form of your choice on Instagram at @csdleipzig or via the application form on the website.
The best entries will compete against each other in a preliminary round at the “Break Free Vol. 3” opening party of the Pride on 07 July 2023 in the Moritzbastei. The event will be hosted by our wonderful Lili Alexander! All drag artists will be given 7 minutes and can fill them with their art as they wish. The top 3 of this pre-selection round – selected by an equally colourful jury – will all receive 100 euros each and progress to the final.
The final will take place at the Pride street festival on 15 July 2023 on Augustusplatz. We are raising the level of difficulty here, giving you 5 minutes and this time a theme: “The Future is Queer!”. Once again, you can look forward to fees, a voucher from Drag-Made-It-Up and the opportunity – if you wish – to grace the stage again at the Prideball on the same evening.
As we all know: Drag is a fight, drag is a protest! If you take part, you should know the demands we are demonstrating for and be able to agree with them. But you are also welcome to participate in the political process and tell us what you are demanding! That way, you can help shape the queer future at this level too.
