Queer visibility in Saxony
When no Pride demo was possible in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic, we launched the “Du bist nicht allein!” (“You are not alone!”) campaign together with the city of Leipzig and funded by the State of Saxony to help queer people in Saxony gain more visibility, especially in times of contact restrictions.
With the campaign, we wanted to show lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans*, inter*, asexual and all other queer people in Saxony that they are not alone, regardless of whether they live in rural areas or in big cities. We received a lot of positive feedback from the community. Many people saw a rainbow flag in their hometown for the first time and felt empowered by it! This has also encouraged us to continue the campaign, even though the posters have long since disappeared again.
It was and is important to us to strengthen the acceptance and participation of queer people in Saxony and make them visible. That is why we have collected counselling and networking opportunities to make them available to you here. Don’t be afraid to contact these organisations if you have any questions or problems or simply want to get actively involved or make new contacts.
Is something missing here?
A lot has happened since 2020: Prides have been launched in some smaller cities in Saxony, new queer groups and projects have emerged and continue to do so. This is diversity in action and we think that’s great! We want to give the community the visibility it deserves.
Of course, we don’t know all the projects and initiatives throughout Saxony. You are therefore called upon to submit queer offers that we should definitely not forget here! Be it a Pride in a rural area, a self-help group or a queer project.
Please let us know so that we can complete the overview!
